MORE FREE PLEIN AIR PAINTING TIPS from TOM BROWN

MORE FREE PLEIN AIR PAINTING TIPS from TOM BROWN

On a recent blog post I showed a pocket-sized painting kit I sometimes carry for spur-of-the-moment paintings when inspiration strikes. Here’s another painting I did using that tiny kit.

A practical kit like this allows you to take your paints anywhere. It’s a great way to acquire more brush mileage and take your skills to the next level – or just be able to capture a rare moment when inspiration strikes, as I did here.

The painting kit is a very small clamshell container that measures about 3x4 inches when closed. It has an airtight seal so that oil paints inside stay wet for weeks. I also have a wet-painting carrier that also fits into my pocket too. Check my previous blog posts for photos of that paint box and wet-painting carrier I used.
