A beautiful pattern of clouds and dappled sunlight covered Saddleback Mountain as I painted this on location. It was a breezy, comfortable day to be outside with my paints.

I usually prefer to paint directly from nature like this. It's much more invigorating than studio painting and whenever I can I get out with my paints to work this way.

As I painted I also took a snapshot of the scene for comparison with my interpretation of the scene. This will make the perfect Holiday gift for someone special – or a great addition to your personal collection.
