This was irresistible. Snow-capped mountains in the distance, contrasted with palms and lush foliage in the foreground. I realize it’s hard to believe, so I am including a photo taken while I painted to prove I wasn’t making this up.

I painted this yesterday (February 19th) within walking distance from my home in Southern California. Despite the time of year, I was comfortable painting outdoors wearing a T-shirt and jeans.

I feel very blessed. Within easy driving distance from my home in Southern California I can enjoy a wide variety of landscapes just waiting to be painted. Beautiful coastal scenery and palm trees. Snow-capped mountains. Rolling hills with lush foliage. Or open desert. It is a plein air painter’s Paradise and I am outside with my paints at every opportunity.

This is another in my new series called “Little Treasures.” Each one is a small, highly affordable original oil painting celebrating the beauty of our world. I live in Southern California and I paint on a daily basis, often on location (en plein air). These Little Treasures are a way of sharing with others the beauty I see and paint.

Notes:
This Little Treasure can be placed in the frame of your choice, or displayed on a shelf or table with an easel. Some collectors “float” these paintings on the wall without a frame, suspended about ¼ inch out from the wall. If you would like details for displaying it this way, I will include information when the painting is shipped.

About Me:
I’m a lifelong artist and host of a TV Art Instruction show. I also conduct painting workshops where I teach oil painting in the Impressionist style. My paintings have sold through top galleries for over 20 years and my work is in private and corporate collections like Sears, Standard Oil, and Coca Cola.

Thanks for looking. Have a beautiful day!

Tom, this is great! I love it when you do a scene on a street. One of the things that stand out in my mind from my time living in socal, is the painted curbs. I guess you dont notice them unless your from someplace else. I love the red curbs! I even painted one a little while back called 'California Curb" http://wojnilo.blogspot.com/2007/08/california-curb.html
